Truly GPL-licensed that you get the freedoms defined by GPL: you can use it, modify its code, redistribute it (for free or even for sale), and even resell it — so long as you preserve the GPL license and credits.
The license itself is legal and fine — but sources matter. If you download a “GPL licensed” theme/plugin from a shady or unknown site, sometimes files may get modified (malware, backdoors, etc.). That’s not a problem with GPL, but with the distribution.
Often, sites selling “GPL bundles” don’t give you license-keys, official updates, or support from the original developers. The GPL license does allow redistribution — but these additional perks (support, auto-updates) are choices by the original developer, not required by GPL.
GPL doesn’t force the plugin/theme author to provide future updates or support. If you get a GPL version from a third-party, you may have to manage updates and compatibility yourself.
